Overplay VPN is a decent VPN provider with some interesting characteristics. This VPN provider has an impressive server network, with over 650 servers spanning across 50 countries. Its feature set is also impressive, but customer support is seriously lacking.
We did like some of the features that Overplay VPN offers, but you would be better off with another, more reliable VPN provider. Read our reviews of the top VPN providers to make sure you’ll find the right VPN for your needs.
Overplay VPN offers a mix of basic and advanced VPN features:
These features are really valuable. We particularly liked its no-logging policy, P2P support, and military-grade encryption features. With a few more improvements we will seriously look at adding them to our list of the Best No-Logging VPN Providers.
Overplay VPN has a big server network with 650+ servers across 70+ locations in 50+ countries. Its presence is strongest in the US where the company has 12 different server locations, followed by India with four, and the UK with three.
Overplay VPN allows unlimited region and server switching, which makes it suited for geo-unblocking. We definitely like its server network as Overplay VPN offers lots of options for users who want to indulge in unblocking geo-restricted content.
Overplay VPN claims it has one of the fastest VPN networks in the world, but we couldn’t find much information on its website that would support this statement. We found bits of unclear details that are not enough for us to believe that it has a fast VPN network. When you say you have one of the fastest networks, you better have something to show for it:
On several occasions, Overplay VPN states that it offers the highest speeds and that it doesn’t throttle your VPN connection. Until we find concrete data revealing its download limit, average connection speed, and overall server capacity, we can’t take such statements seriously.
Overplay VPN offers two different pricing plans. The company allows users to pick a service which only allows them to bypass censorships without encrypting and securing their data. Overplay VPN offers another plan where users can both bypass censorship and have their online presence shielded at the same time. These are the two pricing plans:
The premium package is the better one as it includes all of Overplay VPN’s advanced features:
This premium package is labeled SmartDNS + VPN and can be purchased at a monthly or yearly subscription:
The yearly subscription has the biggest savings and comes at $8.33 per month. We can’t say that Overplay VPN offers the most affordable pricing plans, but it does offer interesting features. Overplay VPN accepts payments made via PayPal and credit cards.
Overplay VPN doesn’t have good customer support. While the website is nicely organized, the company does lack live chat support, and its support section is dedicated only to paying customers.
On its website, you will find the following forms of customer support:
That’s it—no live chat, no email support, no FAQ, no resources. This is the biggest downside of this VPN provider. A VPN provider that doesn’t offer easy ways to be contacted, and a rich knowledge base, can’t compete with an elite VPN like IPVanish.
Overplay VPN offers the following customer protection policies:
Compared to the industry standard, Overplay VPN offers a relatively short refund guarantee. This is the only thing about its protection policies that we disliked, and we think that Overplay VPN should improve its refund policy.
We grade Overplay VPN as a decent VPN provider with many positives, but also some bothersome negatives. Overplay VPN does have solid features, and its sizable server network is the best thing about this provider.
The worst thing is the virtually non-existent customer support. We also didn’t like the fact that Overplay VPN doesn’t accurately describe the nature of its VPN connection—saying that your VPN connection is “fast” is simply not enough. We want numbers and data.
Overplay VPN’s customer protection policies are solid, with its no-logging policy being the best aspect, while its refund policy is weak. The refund policy should be extended—five days is sometimes not enough to test the quality of a VPN service.
Overplay VPN offers intriguing perks, but also has some downsides holding it back. If you don’t know your way around VPNs, you would need assistance that only good customer support can provide, and Overplay VPN doesn’t offer that. While Overplay VPN is not that bad, it is also not that good either. We think you would have a better shot with other VPNs, so check out our reviews of top VPN providers.
Our ratings for overplay vpn review are based on our professional experience and extensive tests with VPN providers between April 2014 – July 2014, taking into account user feedback and reviews we receive. As a friendly disclosure, some VPN providers do compensate us for customers we refer them, but this in no way effects their ranking on our website, nor our reviews.
