Although we’d like to see less logging, this doesn’t stop us from recommending SaferVPN. It is a good VPN provider that’s suitable for new VPN users who are after torrenting and streaming.
SaferVPN Review Summary
SaferVPN was founded by two Israeli IT professionals in 2013, and it now has a large network spanning 37 countries all over the world. The SaferVPN client is easy to understand and use, and the minimal features make it even simpler.
The provider has some of the cheapest service packages available, especially when you sign up for more than one year. Speed test results are also better than others. If you use a VPN mainly for torrenting or P2P, then SaferVPN is a good choice since it has dedicated and optimized servers for P2P traffic. We recommend them for this, and many other uses.
SaferVPN VPN Features
Most of SaferVPN’s features help enhance the security of its users, thus staying true to its name. Here are the features:
- Automatic Wi-Fi security: A VPN connection is automatically enabled when the system detects that you are on an unsecured network. This feature is best for people who are on the go so they will be protected when connecting to public Wi-Fi hotspots without having to think about it.
- Kill switch: This feature disconnects your Internet connection when your VPN connection drops, protecting you from IP leaks. Take note that this is not turned on by default, unlike in other providers’ VPN clients.
- Unlimited bandwidth: All service packages have unlimited bandwidth, including SaferVPN’s 24-hour free trial.

These are the four pricing plans available on SaferVPN:

- One-year: $5.49 per month, billed yearly.

Support
SaferVPN’s customer support comes in three forms:
- Help center: Where you can find all resources related to connectivity, troubleshooting, billing, and account settings. You will also find FAQs and other information about the company here.
- Live Chat: Can handle both general inquiries and technical issues. You need to enter an email address even though you’re not yet a paying customer.
- Tickets: For complicated technical issues. The response time is not indicated. During our test, we first received an automated response in our email, promising that “help is on the way” and that they will respond as fast as they can. We received a helpful response three hours after submitting the ticket, which is pretty good!
SaferVPN claim that their support staff are available 24/7, but it’s best to utilize the resources available within the help center. Your issue might have been addressed there already, so there’s no need to wait for the support staff until after checking there.
POLICIES & LOGGING
According to its comprehensive privacy policy, SaferVPN does not log the IP address and browsing activity of its users. However, the company logs the following information:
- The email address used when you sign up.
- Session date and time stamp.
- Amount of data transmitted during the session.
- The location of the server you connected to.
- The country where you are connecting from.
While the email address is something a user volunteers and has control of, the other logged data is automatically collected by the VPN provider. This isn’t personally identifiable data, but we feel that a provider that claims to have a no-logging policy should not be logging this much information.
For instance, the amount of data would have been useful if SaferVPN had a service plan with capped data, but the company doesn’t have such a plan.
Other VPN providers, especially those on our top 5 No Log VPNs, can operate effectively with minimal logs. It also doesn’t help that SaferVPN’s privacy policy doesn’t state how long these details are stored; the support team doesn’t know either. This could be of concern to some users.
Expert Recommendation
Despite the questionable logging of some unnecessary data, it’s important to point out that SaferVPN does not log the IP addresses and browsing activities of its users.
Although we’d like to see less logging, this doesn’t stop us from recommending SaferVPN. It is a good VPN provider that’s suitable for new VPN users who are after torrenting and streaming. We tested the dedicated servers for these two activities, and the results were decent enough. Of course, a lot of factors can affect your connection speed, but it helps that the provider has servers optimized for such activities.
The prices are also attractive. Although signing up for three years to save 81% is a long stretch, SaferVPN’s 30-day refund policy should give you enough time to test the service before you decide to stay for long. We recommend using them if they meet your needs.

Well I use the VPN just for gaming as i have routing problems.I get improvement of 100ms which is good!Kudos keep up, I would like 10 days of trial for new users as my friends cant be sure of it in 1 day.
One of the best VPN services I tried
I have been using SaferVPN on several of my PC’s. Compared to two other VPN services I have tried in the past, SaferVPN is much easier to setup and configure. The download speed did not suffer which is great because I do stream live video from another country. I highly recommend giving SaferVPN a try.

Great VPN
It’s really a great vpn and supportive for me in different type of web browsing. SaferVPN has made some major improvements, and is now close to being a great service. It uses excellent encryption, has plenty of servers in useful locations, and has a good logging policy. It also offers some very handy bells and whistles, such a Chrome extension and strong support for IKEv2. Only somewhat underwhelming speed performance and sub-par (but friendly!) customer support now holds SaferVPN back.
Free for one day
Advertised as if its free but it’s only free for one day and it doesn’t mask my ip 100%. Not a big fan but for the most part they don’t keep logs and I appreciate being able to download it without having to compromise my identity and giving them sensitive personal info like my c.c. #s which to me is stupid anyway because if you use the internet to buy a vpn and you pay with a credit card then there will always be a paper or digital footprint of your identity tucked away in plain sight for that day when the govt pulls their card. Sorry safervpn not so safe
Great service for streaming
Good for streaming media content that are only available within certain regions. Loading speeds could be faster but once content is loaded there is no buffering, the media plays through as it would being routed through a domestic IP.
Simple and easy
I am using SaferVPN to watch the US Netflix from the Netherlands and it works well so far. Just connect to the streaming server and it works. Sometimes I have a problem with long buffering time but it doesn’t happen often enough to be annoying. It also works on my iPhone with the same account which is cool. The only thing that I am not so sure about is where is this company located, but as long as the service works it’s not that important

Finally found the one that works!
As of 21 Jul 2019. This is the ONLY site that I found that actually works for Netflix while being abroad. Other sites claim to, but either work one time and stop, or not at all. I’m hoping that this one won’t have any issues.
I’m hesitant to tel people this in fear of Jinxing myself Haha, Also, the prices is REALLY good. I haven’t found a lower price, with a service that actually works. Then again I did have to do some research to find this site.
Also, it actually has a REAL free trial, with no credit card needed. That help me test out what I needed without jumping through hoops. Much appreciated and paid off.

Simple, Fast, Lightweight
There was no hassle in downloading or installing. The setup was quick and only took around 1 – 2 minutes to complete. After that, I was greeted with SaferVPN’s user friendly UI. It was no trouble logging in and selecting my country of choice. Once I was connected, I immediately began to notice just how fast SaferVPN really was. There was almost no difference in my download speed. For this reason, I’ve branded SaferVPN as one of the fastest VPN’s on the market. Yah!, Its is better for a Free VPN provider, but it it doesn’t allow that much of service and the connection is also Grade ‘C ‘, until you won’t paid for it and have a subscription for it. I think they should give a nice free trial of their VPN.
My online opinion for safer vpn
It all works perfect. I use it to watch Netflix and more and as soon as I turn it on it works and it is so easy too use and I was so glad to find it. But there is one glitch it tends to slow down my internet connection but otherwise I just love everything about it.
Doesn't work in China
I pretty much agree with this review. SaferVPN isn’t expensive and it has a nice interface, but it doesn’t work at all in China. I wish I’d known. I’m in China right now and thanking my lucky stars I packed a roaming SIM as a backup!

SaferVPN: – Something which they conveniently forget to tell you … They conveniently forget to tell you before you pay that it does not include anything with GPS (but fails to mention what those things are). Also, SaferVPN does not work with Amazon’s Fire stick. First they said that it had “suddenly stopped working”, after further inquiries from myself they subsequently said that it was a ‘known issue’. They absolutely refused a full refund notwithstanding that they clearly mislead potential purchasers into believing that their product works seamlessly across the globe, irrespective of boundaries. Unfortunately the reality is somewhat different. Given the time I wasted following their on line ‘advice’ as to how to create a hotspot to use Amazon Firestick (which they know to be impossible with their product) I would strongly advise all to go elsewhere – I went to IP Vanish and it was instantly an infinitely superior product which I ended up paying less than I did for the barely functional SaferVPN. Save your money and your time and ignore this mob.
Many issues with BBC iPlayer
In the beginning I was very happy with SaferVPN. I use it specially to watch BBC iPlayer. Some time ago I have a lot of problems to do it, because several UK Streaming servers are already blocked by BBC. I claimed several times and they did not gave me a solution. On the other hand they have a use-friendly app and browser extensions which work in Windows, Mac and Linux devices.

Easy access to iPlayer
I was looking for a VPN that would let me watch BBC iPlayer while abroad and SaferVPN gave me exactly what I needed. Quite simple to install and their support helped me to connect to the UK Streaming server and watch my shows. Easy!
Nazgul
Worked alright but it automatically turns on at login and I can never exit out of the program. It cancels shut down the first time every time I try to shut off my computer. I cancelled my subscription and it’s still stuck in the background like a nazgul-not living or dying, but ever present, waiting for its master to return.
Poor support and no money back option
I wanted a VPN that I could use on both my laptop and Firestick. The laptop installed and worked fine. The support said it could not be used on the Firestick even though they had an Android app. It took many attempts to get a copy of the APK file so that I could sideload it on to my Firestick 2. It all installed OK but failed to run properly. I know I could have installed on a new router if I wanted to buy one, which I did not. I could have set my laptop up as a hot spot, but again I did not want this. So as this did not perform as I wanted it to, and of course there is no 1 month free to test option, I asked for my money back and so far after 48 hours no response. So if you want to just run on a laptop this works fine.
Poor support
I have been trying to install on a Firestick 2 it should be easy but I can not find anyway to download the apk file. Support do not respond apart from the usual “someone will get back to you soon”. IPVanish advertise that they work first time out of the box.
Good VPN for Russia
In Russia many websites are block and we need a VPN to access them. SaferVPN is not expensive and works very good for me to access blocked sites in Russia like rutracker. It works on Android also and I am very happy with it.
Pretty solid
This VPN is decent it is comparable to some of the other good ones out there I like the fact that it doesn’t keep logs and has good speed with directions easy for beginners to understand so it would be a good VPN for beginners to start of with.
I really don’t use torrents and I’m not in China I really don’t do anything illegal online so all of that doesn’t really affect me are my opinion of the VPN
