Viscosity VPN Review

Viscosity VPN is a VPN client and not a VPN provider. It was created by SparkLabs, a small company founded in 2008 whose focus is on developing computer software. The company is based in Australia and the US.

Viscosity VPN doesn’t offer the best of features, its server network is not determined, and the speed and reliability of its VPN connection are unknown. It does offer extensive customer support, but its protection policies are pretty weak. We don’t like the fact that Viscosity VPN logs your online activity for up to 90 days.

Viscosity VPN is a below-average VPN. As a VPN client, it simply provides the software to connect with other, third-party VPN providers. If that seems shady to you, well, it is. You’ll have better chances of getting better services with our reviews of top-quality VPN providers with proven records.

Features

Viscosity VPN is unclear about the features it offers. It has an entire features section, but it barely provides any useful information on this matter:

Viscosity VPN Features

There is no mention of a kill switch, encryption method, unlimited bandwidth, or speed. Viscosity VPN has created a list of many things that are just not important for a VPN provider, and that’s a big no from us.

Countries & servers

There isn’t much information on Viscosity VPN’s website about its server locations. All we were able to find was this map pointing at the locations where Viscosity VPN’s offices are based.

Viscosity VPN Countries and Servers

Viscosity VPN is not a VPN provider at all. It is, in fact, software that allows you to connect to third-party VPN service providers. Whatever servers the other VPN has are what you will get. Viscosity is a pointless middle-person to the average user, and is really only useful to those setting up their own VPN (who could likely build their own client anyway).

Viscosity VPN Not a VPN Provider

No wonder there isn’t a list of server locations on its website! If you’re looking for a VPN with some series server numbers, try out Cyberghost VPN with over 3,500+ servers!

Speed & reliability

Considering that Viscosity VPN is not an actual VPN provider, it doesn’t do much in defining the speed and stability of its VPN connection. Even though its knowledge base is rich in various VPN information, this is the only information we could find about its VPN speed:

Viscosity VPN Speed

There isn’t much information on the website that would help us better understand how this VPN client affects your Internet connection speed. Considering that speed and stability are two metrics that are very important for customers, the lack of such information bodes poorly for Viscosity VPN.

Pricing & payments

Viscosity VPN offers a single pricing plan. It comes at a price of $14 for a single copy. Users are free to adjust the number of copies purchased. The product can be downloaded and used free of cost for a trial period of 30 days.

Viscosity VPN Pricing and Payments

Viscosity VPN accepts payments through credit cards, PayPal, and Bitcoin.

Support

This part was particularly impressive about Viscosity VPN. It has extensive customer support content-wise, and it offers a lot of informative articles and other pieces.

Viscosity VPN Knowledge Base 1

Viscosity VPN’s customer support consists of:

  • Knowledge base
  • FAQ
  • Blog
  • Forum
  • Support Home
  • Contact us

Unfortunately, Viscosity VPN doesn’t have live chat support. Despite lacking a live chat feature, its customer support is considered above average. We especially liked the fact that we can browse the knowledge base by entering specific keywords and have access to all relevant articles.

Policies & logging

Viscosity VPN offers the following customer protection policies:

  • Privacy policy: If you make a purchase, Viscosity VPN will collect your name, email address, company name, and physical address. This information is collected for legal purposes. It claims not to sell or trade your personal data to third parties beyond what is required to process your payment. It does not collect information about your credit card, expiration date, or security code.
  • Refund policy: Viscosity VPN allows users to try out its product for a trial period of 30 days. During the trial period, the products are not limited in any way, allowing users to fully test the product. Viscosity VPN doesn’t provide refunds in the following cases:

  • Logging policy: When you visit Viscosity VPN’s website via a network request, some basic data about the request will be logged. That data may include your IP address, date and time, and other additional data. Server logs may be kept for up to 90 days.

These are not quality customer protection policies. We don’t like the fact that Viscosity VPN keeps information about your online activity and keeps your logs for up to 90 days. That’s a major red flag when you can find high-quality no-log VPNs quite easily.

Expert recommendation

Viscosity VPN is not an ideal VPN, that is certain. Considering that Viscosity VPN is not a VPN provider at all, they just provide a VPN client, the situation becomes more complicated. It doesn’t offer a standard set of features or a server network. All you get for a steep price is a client when most good VPNs offer their own for free!

The brightest point about Viscosity VPN is probably its customer support. Even though it lacks a live chat feature, it does make up for it with a rich knowledge base. The protection policies though are below-average, and Viscosity VPN doesn’t do much to protect your privacy and security. It monitors your online activity and keeps logs for up to 90 days.

In the end, we wouldn’t trust this VPN. If you want a reliable, trustworthy, quality VPN provider, check out our reviews of the top VPN providers, and find the right VPN for you.
