Conclusion

VyprVPN does many things very well, and their partnership with SpiderOak for encrypted storage is a real bonus. Use it if you need encrypted storage that is also transported with top-notch encryption. With 15+ years of experience in the Internet industry, and a strong dedication to privacy from spying, VyprVPN offers you an exceptional Tier-1 network. Everything you do with them, including billing, their server network, and support, is handled by VyprVPN and the Golden Frog Network parent company. VyprVPN can't be recommended to those who wish to do torrenting or P2P file sharing. This against their Terms of Service. With their logging policy also clearly established, it is not hacker or spammer friendly at all. They will use their logs to work with law enforcement when a subpoena is presented to them. VyprVPN is recommended for those who want to do general browsing, video streaming, and to unlock geo-blocked content. It is also great on public Wi-Fi for anti-hacker defense. They have above-average pricing, but their extra features and Tier-1 network do make them a good deal if you are looking for exactly what they offer.

We want to recommend PureVPN as they were the best options for SSTP (a very secure encryption method), offer dedicated IP addresseses, and a few other awesome features. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a VPN with bad customer support – which is the case with PureVPN. We would not recommend PureVPN for most users, especially those who are not tech savvy and frequently need help. There are plenty of alternatives that you’ll find in our Top 10 VPN list. If you absolutely need some of their unique features, we’d say tread carefully as their features are available on other VPN providers with better customer support.

Conclusion

StrongVPN offers one of the most comprehensive VPN services in the world. Their network is good, spanning 24 popular countries, while still retaining adequate speed and reliability. StrongVPN’s VPN software is adequate, but switching between servers is clunky. Their pricing is about average, but you really get a great VPN service in return. We would recommend StrongVPN for most users, especially if your main usage is browsing, video/music streaming (such as Netflix), or traveling internationally while wanting to unlock content in your home country. They do not rank higher because nothing that they do really stands out. Their software is adequate, but doesn't have the advanced features or smooth functionality of those which we rank higher. They don't have an excessive exceptional price for this lower level of client, so they are going to remain ranking right around mid-pack.

They may have a good VPN service, easy to use and tons of servers. Would have given 5 stars, but their support took too long to get back to me. :/

Conclusion

ExpressVPN are an above average VPN provider with a software package that will satisfy the new VPN user. Those with more experience may be bothered by the lack of clear direction as to which features their software has. Use ExpressVPN if you want:

    • A ‘one button’ approach to connectivity.
    • A consistent connection speed with few drops.
    • To be able to download via P2P and torrenting.
    • A wide range of server host countries to unlock geo-blocked content.
If you’re willing to pay a premium price for the simplicity of their simple software package, and huge VPN server numbers, this is a good VPN choice for you.

FAQs About the Best VPN for Kodi

What is Kodi?

Kodi is a media player software that’s fast becoming a household name. It is developed and maintained by XBMC Foundation which describes Kodi as “the ultimate entertainment center.” True to this description, Kodi is compatible with major platforms such as iOS, Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. It allows users to play videos, music, podcasts, and other media files from local and network storage media and the Internet.

What sets Kodi apart from other media players is that it is open-source. Therefore, it has hundreds of add-ons to choose from, and all of these add-ons are free.

What is a VPN and how does it work?

When you use the Internet, all your network traffic goes directly to the other web server, and your personal details can be seen by advertisers, your ISP, or anyone interested. This situation won’t happen when you use a VPN. A VPN is a remote computer that goes between your computer and the web servers. It makes the communication requests for you, and in the process it encrypts all your data and hides your IP address.

What is the purpose of a VPN on Kodi?

Using a VPN on Kodi allows you to maximize the features of the media player. Below are some reasons why you might need to use a VPN on Kodi.

  • – To bypass geographical restrictions: Kodi at its core is only a media player that allows you to watch videos from your local area. However, when you install add-ons, it becomes a streaming platform where you have access to a wide variety of media content. The only barrier between you and this content is the geo-restrictions which media companies have put in place to protect copyrighted materials. If a show or movie is not copyrighted in your location, it cannot be accessed. However, with a VPN, you can access geo-restricted content.
  • – To stream movies and TV shows anonymously: Let’s make it clear that streaming in and of itself is not illegal. However, there are Kodi add-ons that use questionable streaming sources, specifically those that use P2P. As a Kodi user, you often have no idea where the movies come from, so it’s better to use a VPN to be safe. With a VPN, all network traffic is encrypted, and even your ISP will not be able to see what you’re doing on Kodi.
  • – ISP throttling and blocking: ISPs have blocked some Kodi add-ons and are even throttling network speed when they detect that you’re accessing content through the add-ons.

When using a VPN on Kodi, some great add-ons that you will have access to are the BBC iPlayer, USTVNow, and other entertainment and sports add-ons. Generally speaking, it is best to use a VPN even outside Kodi to secure all your communications and protect your privacy.

Should I buy a VPN for Kodi?

If you want to take advantage of Kodi’s full features, then you definitely need to buy a VPN for Kodi. VPNs can help you do the following:

  • – Get around geoblocking.
  • – Bypass ISP throttling and restrictions placed on some Kodi add-ons.
  • – Stream movies and TV shows anonymously.

Without add-ons, Kodi is just another media player that allows you to play videos from your local or networked storage. You need add-ons to unlock Kodi’s full potential, and a VPN can give you access to premium add-ons.

Can I set up a VPN for Kodi?

To set up a VPN on Kodi, you need to be running LibreELEC or OpenELEC; both are forks of the media player. Don’t worry though because you can set up the VPN on your device or your router so that every application (including Kodi) is protected.

Is it safe to use a VPN on Kodi?

A VPN service is as safe as its provider, so make sure to choose one that is reliable and secure. Some VPN providers log and even leak your personal data, while there are providers that are committed to the core purposes of VPNs—privacy and security. Before selecting a VPN, read our reviews above so that you will have an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of each VPN provider.

What is the best VPN for Kodi?

Any reliable and secure VPN is compatible with Kodi. However, the best ones are those that have multiple servers all over the world so that you will have many options when accessing geo-restricted content.

How much does a Kodi VPN cost?

You can get a Kodi VPN for as low as $3 per month. You can even get it for less if you sign up for a year or more.

Are there any free VPNs for Kodi?

Yes, some providers offer free VPN services for life. We don’t recommend these services since most of them contain a lot of advertisements, ad trackers, and even malware. They can log your personal information and usage, which pretty much defeats the purpose of a VPN.
